"Don't be too hard on yourself. There are plenty of people willing to do that for you. Love yourself and be proud of everything that you do. Even mistakes mean you're trying." (Susan Gale). I just think that we need to read things like this every single day, meditated about them, and pay attention to the truth in these words. So many people are hard on us, but often we are hardest on ourselves. We don't feel that we give enough as partners, wives, husbands, parents, employees, students, neighbors. There is always something more that we could or should be doing. Well, if we can start with ourselves, and really know that we do enough, we are enough, we give enough. Be gentle and loving with yourself. Happiness in life does not come from external forces, it comes from within.

So completely true, Cynthia… thank you for the reminder! :)
ReplyDeleteI just received Joel Osteen's newest book, "I Declare - 31 Promises to Speak Over Your Life" as a gift from my neigbor. The book is about how the words you speak will become your reality. There is power in your words, how you speak of yourself, and your future. There is truth in what you have written in your blog and I totally agree - we need to be kind to ourselves, nurture ourselves, and celebrate the good things inside and who we really are.
ReplyDeleteI should read that book, sounds wonderful. I do believe that we can will things into being...
ReplyDeleteCan I have it next?
DeleteFinding great difficulty staying optimistic in life. After all of my recent frustrations, letdowns, and disillusionments; this is a perspective that I truthfully never considered-focusing on me!
Perhaps, if I focus on self-care and self-affirmation, I will be able to move forward in life without the tainted, corrupted and rejected perceptions that I have developed towards life in general.
